Heidi Waem is a Partner at the law firm DLA Piper in Brussels, where she leads the Data, Privacy, and Cybersecurity team.
Heidi’s practice focuses on all aspects of privacy, data protection, and data security, including compliance work, strategic advice, dispute resolution, assistance with cyber incidents, and due diligence. She also has a background in the broader field of intellectual property (particularly copyright and trade secrets), consumer law, and contract law (specifically R&D agreements, licensing agreements, and software development agreements).
Heidi is a member of the Council for Journalism, the independent advisory board of Smartschool, and the Privacy Council of Beltug.
Before becoming a lawyer, she earned a degree in translation (French – Italian – Modern Greek) from the Higher Institute for Translators and Interpreters in Antwerp.
