atrick Bakermans is a bookbinder at heart. Shortly after completing his studies, he began working at Hexspoor, a softcover bindery that was acquired by Brepols, a hardcover bindery, in 2018. He now works there as a sales manager and advisor.
In the world of bookbinding, Patrick discovered that telling a story through a book involves more than just technical expertise. Design, paper selection, printing, and other elements must be carefully aligned. What fascinated him most was the craftsmanship involved—the knowledge and skills of the people needed to create true works of art, along with the challenges and pitfalls. Navigating those challenges and communicating with clients and printers became Patrick’s passion.
The merging of Hexspoor and Brepols has made the craft even more exciting. Softcovers and hardcovers under one roof, alongside 140 dedicated professionals.
