Making books is a discipline where the professionals only survive by working efficiently. In this course module, you will create a complete book in one day. These lessons require a solid knowledge of InDesign.
To preserve all useful text formatting and styles from a digital manuscript, you will learn how to convert the document to InDesign and then encode it. You will also gain the necessary technical insights to bring your graphic design choices to life. The emphasis is on an efficient approach, specifically for long and complex documents. This includes an introduction to GREP, GREP styles, and scripts. By the end of the day, you will export your book to a print-ready PDF.
On the second day, you will continue working and integrate Generative AI for small tasks in the design and production process.
The lesson is included in the Plantin Typography & Book course.
This course module can be taken independently but is best combined with the Project Management class, taught by the same instructor. We repeat the classes each year.
Knowledge of InDesign is necessary.
