The Museum Plantin-Moretus offers a fascinating insight into the business and personal stories of Christoffel Plantin and his successors, the Moretus family. A significant portion of the unique collection, including printing forms, presses, punches and matrices, type cases, composing sticks, furniture, prints, drawings, and paintings, is available online. The extensive library, consisting of 25,000 old printed works, 638 manuscripts, and tens of thousands of books on relevant disciplines, is accessible through the Antwerp Anet library network.
The Plantin Institute of Typography has its own library with 3,000 books, the “Louis Van den Eede Library.” This collection, along with that of the Museum Plantin-Moretus, can be accessed through the Brocade network. This wealth of knowledge is available to students and enthusiasts, who can also explore the collection in the museum’s reading room.
Nearby, you will also find other prominent libraries, such as those of the University of Antwerp, the Artesis Plantijn University College Antwerp, the Hendrik Conscience Heritage Library, and the archives of the Letterenhuis, placing the museum within a rich cultural and educational landscape.
